Is anybody able to explain to me why Numbers is so slow? I'm using version 2.1 (Numbers '09) on Lion with 4GB RAM. I've seen all over the web that Numbers is so slow when using large data sets. It works great for me until I start using it with large amounts of data. I takes a few minutes with the beach ball to even select 2 columns that have 6000 rows in them. But does anyone know WHY it's so slow? Or if there is a way around the slowness?

While you probably do have enough ram (also depends on if Numbers is the only app your running), your macbook pro 2ghz may be struggling to process large amounts of data.

Consider the idea that your computer may not be powerful enough to deal with the data set.

It's not just the RAM or processor, Numbers is slow as crap on large files.

Maybe it'll be updated this decade.
