I don't get it... seems so arbitrary to say that socks and sandals are a taboo.

i have never been under the impression that its a taboo. do i find it a bit odd? yes, only because i can't see how it is comfortable at all.

Generally speaking it is something that is best avoided, however if you are going to do it you are best to have closed toe sandals and then use a dark sock that sort of blends in. I'd think open toe sandals and white socks are probably not a good combination, but then again I am far from a fashion expert.

No trust me it's a taboo. Some people act like it's a crime to wear socks and sandals. But I see absolutely nothing about it that sticks out as fashionably wrong.

Taboo? I'd say more a fashion faux pas.

I wouldn't combine the two personally, although I'm highly unlikely to be wearing sandals in the first place.

why? do you like having to put shoes on everytime you go out of the house?

Depends on the colours of the socks & kind of sandals. Some combinations look good to me. I would wear them if it weren't too cold and soggy here now.

It looks stupid thats why, just put on a pair of sneakers. Sandals are meant for bare feet on the beach.

It's like wearing shorts with knee high socks or dress shoes with white socks. You just look weird.

Because you wear sandals when you want the minimum amount of foot covering. You want to feel the sun and the air on your feet, but you don't want to go shoeless. Then you put socks on and defeat the whole point. You might as well were regular shoes. Its just one of those things that is plain wrong and everybody knows it.

He is saying he wears sandals with socks because they are easy to slip on rather than having to tie shoes to leave the house.

Or I'm assuming.

Tie shoes? I've been wearing slip-ons almost exclusively for years now. Much more convenient and, imo, more fashionable. The only time I tie shoes is when I'm tying runners...

I think it depends on where you live. Some people accept it and some don't. Talk about a fashion faux pas? Button down collars. Bit time no no in my opinion. So so oh so much worse than socks with sandals.

^ This is the look for somebody who just got out of the hospital. Like it's a foot brace or something.

Like Mac'nCheese said, sandals and socks have different purposes. It's like wearing a parka and carrying an umbrella.
