Why is the temporary audio output "temporary" on the ATV?
I have the gen 1 4k ATV, and paired my gen 2 HomePods to it.
I'd like to use my paired HomePod Minis in the same room.

It sounds great when I have the stereo paired HP G2's setup with the stereo paired minis. It's a great room that includes a kitchen. I put the minis in the kitchen and the HomePods gen 2s by the TV itself. It sounds GREAT.

BUT.... I can only set the mini's up as temporary. For reasons I cannot deduce, they stop playing sound until I go back into setup on the ATV and make them temporary audio outputs again.

Why?? Why not allow it permanent? Any insight? Is there a down-side to doing this?

The Gen 2's can be set as default, as can the mini's but they can't be set as default at the same time. Its one or the other. Apple really should enable the mini's to be rear speakers and have surround. It's baffling that they don't.

If you can't get the Mini's to be set as default on their own, check that they are in the same Home as the Apple TV itself.

I get that. I just wish I could make the mini's a permanent 2nd option as well. It allows it as temporary.
I'm not even asking for them to be "rear". That would be awesome, but if I could just keep them as a 2nd option, I'd be happy for now. Apple has really set my bar low!
