Why is the 2nd Gen ATV more than 3rd?

What is it about the 2nd generation Apple TV that makes it worth more to people than the 3rd? Other than some spec differences (which favor the third gen), they appear to be the same yet Amazon offers 80 dollar trade in on the 2nd gen and only 30 for the 3rd.

The second generation apple tv has the ability to be jailbroken which all allows users to install additional software like xbmc/kodi for example or you can install atv flash black.

Yep, they are worth more because they can be jailbroken. That's all there is to it.

Good to know! I have a used one and it's stuck on the older UI. Thanks for the tip. Now trading in mine to buy the 3rd gen with the upped specs and newer UI. Trade in value for the old one is $65.80 used. Buying a new 3rd gen is $62. I even make money lol.
