This is one thing that I was wondering. Why is it that Apple did not make the facetime beta application to most of the os platforms out there?

Apple wants everyone to be on the same OS, so therefore will only support their current OS. As all Intel macs from 2006 are capable of running Snow Leopard, there really isn't any reason not to be on it.

Not all of us can upgrade to snow leopard.

And not all of us using SL can update to the latest patch as it causes system freezes in many 2007/08 macs (especially prevalent with the 8,1 iMacs).
