Can anyone tell my why one computer is more expensive? I am a UX designer who occasionally does video work. Do you think it's worth it?

Lower price attracts more interest.

They probably have many more 2013 models they would like to offload than 2012 models to help out the bottom line in the portables department.

Just a guess.
 
to add to your question...

I too am looking at these for my son.

But I was leaning towards the 2013 model with the 512 HD and the 750M graphics chip.

Don't you too find this to be a better option?

Do you know if the 13' is better for a new college student in Computer Science, visual arts?
