That is because people will spend twice the price to have a macbook pro just for a dedicated graphic card instead of rubblish built-in GMA950.
So true, same for the mac pro, do you need quad core fb-dimm machine? No, but the iMac got ****** gfx and in the case of the 20" a TN-panel so what is the option really? ;D
 
Lots of good points mentioned.

The biggest thing for me is out of the box functionality (think iLife). Computers aren't just about numbers printed on the side of the box.
But then most people already have a computer and some, like me, switches mostly for software alone, and then the software is really ****ing expensive consider you have to buy hardware aswell ;D
 
The real price value of Apple's line is the iMac, where you get a good machine at a competitive price. The notebook's are a little overpriced compared to the competition, especially the macbook, where you can get SR spec laptops at the same price. The blackbook is a ripoff to charge that much extra for a different paint job and Apple really needs to put a superdrive across the line. A combo burner in a $1100 laptop? I'd expect that in a cheap $500 bare bones Dell.
