Owning both a mini 2 and iPad air 2, I see no point in them keeping the mini lineup. The air to is so light and then it actually feels like a mini with a bigger screen.

That's silly. Weight doesn't matter to me, size does. I love the size of the iPad Mini. I hated the full size iPad.

The Mini could do everything I need in a small package that could fit into my back pocket.

Why would you want to get rid of something that many consumers love??

That's if you don't count the TouchID, that is a very cool selling point in my opinion.

Not for $100.

Not for $100.

The good news is you can find the mini 3s on sale. Bestbuy had them for $75 off a few weeks ago. At $25 extra it is easily worth it.

From what I've seen, people are voting with their wallets. People are not rushing out buying iPads like they are iPhones. I think if you own a Mini 2, there's absolutely no reason to upgrade.

Add on the fact that the iPhone 6 plus must be impacting sales as well. I'm using my rMini less and less, because the IP6+ is handling the tasks I would have used the tablet for.

I agree Mike, the iP6+ is a dream to text on, goes "EVERYWHERE" with me, just use the iPad MiniRetina 2 just by the couch, Cancelled the $20/Month Verizon cell plan contract on it , waiting for the iPad Pro to do Couch and Movie/ Sports viewing as a second screen, as well as photo editing:cool:
Thought the iP6+ would be huge and ungainly, I LOVE IT, in fact could GROW a little bit, and I'd be all over it;)

I think you are very unlucky about Apple's devices, since yours seem to be always different from the majority.
TouchID is working on 90% of the times on my iDevices.

All of my MacBook Pros have been fantastic machines with little to no problems. Heck, my 2008 15" MBP survived a full glass of water being poured inside of it by my son. It took a solid month and a half of drying before it worked again, but it's been going a solid three years since that. That machine also survived being dropped three feet in an airport parking lot. It even took some needle nose pliers adjustments to get it to open. The misses is still using this one today after a memory and an SSD upgrade.

My iPad 2 is still working quite well for the misses.

My iPhone 4S' batter was reduced by half in going to iOS 7. My air CONSTANTLY refreshes tabs - even with ONLY two tabs open and Safari being the only running app. My iPhone 5S fails Touch ID more than half the time. If my finger is anything but bone dry, the touchID will, absolutely not work. I'm talking even the tiniest bit wet. On the other hand, the battery of my 5S is OUTSTANDING, and I do not intend to upgrade past 7.1.2 ever because of this. I learned my lesson from past Apple iOS upgrade experiences.

Apple products and software are not flawless. And it's OK to say so, no matter how much some folks try their utmost to say otherwise.

That's subjective

IMO, people who buy the newer iPad Mini 3 are doing it to get the latest product.

If during the original iPad Mini 2 release they offered the fingerprint scanner as an upgrade option on the Mini 2 for $100, I don't think it would sell very well.

You're right that it is subjective, but I don't think most people would think it's worth it alone.

The discussion was about original iPad mini owners upgrading to mini 2 or 3 .... In this case I would spend 100$ mode for the latest product.

A mini 2 owner has no good reason to upgrade.

The lack of anything significant in the mini 3 is predictably nothing more than Apple looking for as much profit as possible. You can't blame them. It's what their known for and important to maintain. They've got a spaceship building under construction. Those are expensive to build.

Considering most of there US money is already being allocated to the buyback program absolutely.

So your iPhone 5S and iPad air clearly are defective

Clearly not, since I'm not alone in my complaints. Well, the air was defective, but for a display flicker.im still trying to test out if the tab refresh is identical with this one. But it's been difficult, since I've been conditioned to avoid getting screwed over by tab refreshes.

And I'll gladly type in a password to get obscene battery life on the 5S. I had to deal with PATHETIC battery life from taking my iPhone 4S to iOS 7(stupid me for trusting apple telling my it was a-ok). So I know I got it good now.

The fact is that when the iPad Mini w/retina was introduced along with the Air, both devices had really similar specs. That's not good for Apple when their top of the line iPad has little difference to a cheaper model.

I believe this is why we are seeing the Mini 2/3 with lower specs and features than the Air 2. It will probably be that way for the foreseeable future. It's like the Mac Mini vs the Mac Pro.

But i don't think many choosing between the mini or the Air is worrying about specs. It's more about the screen size

You keep insulting your Apple devices, but keep buying one after another.... Very credible.

Better than the competition, IMHO.

But it seems that pointing out deficiencies with Apple products is not allowed here.

Don't you hate that attitude?

The same thing happens on the car forum that I am a member of. You can't even be honest about real issues or things you don't like because everyone will jump on you defending it to their death.
