why is there a 2.5 and 2.53 option?

    between the new design and old design for sale now? they both use the same chip do they not?

    Yes and no. They're still Penryn, but updated.

    Old one uses a 200MHz base bus with a 12.5x mulitplier giving you 2.5GHz.

    The new one is a 266MHz base bus with a 9.5x multiplier giving you 2.53GHz.

    The FSB is quad pumped on both, so it's 800MHz and 1066MHz on the old and new, respectively.
