iPad why is there a lack of back shells for iPad air 2?

picked up an Air 2, and was looking for a minimalist back cover like the Switcheasy Cover Buddy, only to find they don't make one. Then I looked at other manufacturers that have historically made back covers for iPads, including the iPad Air, like Speck, Incipit, i-Blason, Khomo, and none of them make a version for the Air 2!

Anyone have any idea why? thanks

I agree I made a post a few months ago and nobody responded. The only back shell I found from reputable company is the one from power support. I used it when I owned my iPad Air 1, it was great but cracked after a few months. Their warranty coverage is only 90 days. Also it's expensive at $50 but it does include a nice screen protector which sells for $30 on its own. Maybe the newer iPad Air 2 version is less prown to cracking.

yeah its just bizzare. is it because the Air 2 is so thin?

BTW I asked Switcheasy and i-blason, both said they dont have any info on it.

For people that want a back shell and Smart Cover combo, u can get the Khomo folio and then just cut off the front cover. I am using this and it keeps the iPad very thin and light.

This is what I've been saying! On my old iPad 3 I had the Incase Snap Magnet which had the two large magnet back strips to hold the smart cover back when your iPad was open. I want this case for the iPad Air 2, I even contact Incase asking if they planned on making it for the Air 2 and never got a response.

This case was, in my opinion, the PERFECT combo:

I'm curious on your Air 1 the case that cracked from Power Support, was it one of the clear ones? I noticed they have a new one that is supposedly a soft "rubber". I'm wondering if it's a more flexible/durable material. Here's the one I'm taking about: http://www.powersupportintl.com/air-jacket-rubber-black-for-ipad-air-2-solo/

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger, thoughts?

I had the same version which was black for the air 1. You probably wont have any problems if you dont remove the case and are very careful when you do so. Mine cracked after 5 months of usage, I think I only removed it once or twice in that time.

Ahh that sucks. It was the same in that it was there new supposed rubber soft material? I'm having second thoughts now especially at $50

Yes it had a nice rubber grippy material with a very thin profile. I really enjoyed using it until it cracked on the side near the volume rocker. I'm guessing the air 2 version will be even thinner. Their warranty coverage is only 90 days. $50 is pricey for a case like this, they do include a clear screen protector which sells for $28 on its own.
