I have Apollo and some other IM client on my old iPod Touch running 1.x.x firmware, but now that I have had my iPhone 3g for a while, I am beginning to miss having those apps. The AIM app on the app store is useless (along with many others) since it does not run in the background. I figured that eventually someone would release something for 2.0 on Cydia or Installer, but I am just not finding anything (namely an AIM client that can run in the background and recieve messages when I am doing other things). Am I just blind, or is there nothing of the sort on cydia/installer?
I'm totally with you man.. I do not agree with these apps that use notification and whatever.. It just isn't the same. I want a background chat app as well. But I just don't think it's going to happen..
Background notifications are coming. Just wait. I suspect there aren't any in Cydia or Installer because the developers of them back under 1.1.x realized that there's money to be had.
News? Hey! I would like to ask. I have Cydia on my 2G 2.0 iPhone and Im hopelessly waiting for any news on IM issue.. Anyway I think there is Apollo IM running through Installer for 2.0? But what the hell should I do if I have Cydia=D? Is it possible (and how) to get Installer as well? Wont there be problem for those 2 to work together?
background notifications 1. There aren't any IM on the jailbroken side, because all of them are moving to the App store...even your precious Apollo 2. There isn't a background notification for either jailbroken/non jail broken phones 3. Apple is developing a universal back ground notification....to be unveiled..soon...
