I just bought my first ever Apple Watch last weekend (Series 3 space gray) and I love the damn thing but for the ***** Life Of Me I cannot figure out Why on gods green earth that this has been out 3 years now and STILL no way to set a different alert tone for a Text / iMessage vs. a tone for an email???

I get both all day and it pisses me off that I do not know what I am receiving unless I look at my watch.

Seriously this makes ZERO Sense to me.

Why in hell has this not become an option on the watch yet???

Great idea. I hadn't considered that but was just thinking today that it would be nice if the text alert tones on the watch matched those on the phone for each contact. If you're truly meant to run wild with one of these cellular watches sans iPhone then it follows that they should match all alert tones so that the experience is seamless. Probably on the watchOS 6 wishlist...

Just seems to make sense to me! Not sure how they have gone this long without adding this. Plus like you said for those who have the Cellular edition and would use their watch primarily potentially I would want that without a doubt.

I hate how they have option to "Mirror Your Phone" on messages and email BUT it doesn't mirror the alert tone either.

It better make it to watchOS 5 or I'm not gonna consider a new one ... for me though it seems petty alert tones are meant be differentiate the "alert type" ... this should be the Exact SAME on the Apple Watch.

3 years now and this is not an option? I never knew how Bad this OS was for the watch till I just bought one .. I figured after 3 years it will have a Ton of options like this along with awesome 3rd party Watch Faces.

Though I kinda like the watch, the abysmal lack of options and support for this thing are making me wonder if I should just take this thing back.

Meh.. It's easily to glance to see if it's text or email. It's not like you have to open the damn thing.

True, but if you're in a conversation with someone or otherwise engaged that's equivalent to taking your phone out of your pocket to look at the screen. A different tone allows you to know just what the type of alert is and in the case of customized text alerts, who the alert is from. Considering there is a lot of push towards not being distracted while driving you'd think this would already be optional on the watch.

To each his own, though.

EXACTLY!

These are suppose to be 'Smart" Watches ... pretty stupid when you can't get a different tone for a different type of alert. Hell they have had this for decades even before smart phones.

If this somehow does not pop up in OS5 this year honestly this thing is already massively lacking in features and support as it is, and that one tiny thing will make me dump it all together.
