Why isn't Apple building stores in impoverished neighborhoods?

Aren't poor people a new market for Apple? They always build Apple Stores in affluent parts of cities and suburbs. Why isn't there a South Memphis Apple Store, or a Detroit store?

Respectfully, this question is bound to stir up assumptions and reasons from all sides, and in the end, everyone will leave with the same opinion they came in with.

Have you looked at how much apple products cost? They aren't really affordable if you are actually poor, and while there may be some people in those neighborhoods that can afford apple products there aren't enough to keep a store profitable.

Perhaps because they use common sense. I mean you place stores near your customer base. Its like placing an air conditioner store in the north pole - you'll not get too many customer there.

I'm assuming that you're confusing the terms "emerging" and "developing" as being related to the poor whenever you read about Apple and other companies trying to get into these markets. It actually has to do with the improvement of technology, cost of living, work, etc.

Apple doesn't pretend to be helping people in poverty. They are an aspirational brand.

Good idea. Maybe we can also squeeze a Ferrari dealership in-between the Dollar General and the Title Loans place.
