6.1 inch vs 6.5 inch is similar in size, and the specs are pretty comparable. Anyone downsize to a 12 Pro?

Having looked at all options, I went with 12 Pro instead of 12 and 12 pro max. Upgrading from 11 pro max.

Rational is

-6.1. Ideal size ( not large compared to max , but still got 90% close camera system)
-6GB Ram (. iPhone 12 has less Ram)
-better build quality compared to iPhone 12
-Previous 11 pro max is huge though I like screen
-5G/Wifi6 support/Qualcomm modem brings new speeds compared to iPhone 11 Pro max

Unless you get a good price i would still say 12 pro is the better option as it’s newer tech. Guess depends on what size phone you want

To answer your question though, this is exactly what I did and I’m happy. The phone is lighter, I haven’t seen a massive drop in battery life, Ave the screen isn’t THAT much smaller to where it was hard to get used to.

Any links? I did a search
Apologies .... I think the discussions were actually buried inside 12pro threads rather than a thread alone ..... I’m not in a position to search right now.

I have an 11PM and thought the 12Pro would be fine for me but I soon missed the screen size and keyboard size ... so the net result is I’m picking up a 12PM on Friday :)

I actually believe it was discussed quite often here on MacRumors, especially considering the fact that the regular 12 launched before the Max did and many people jumped on the regular Pro thinking of maybe downsizing given the occasion.

I did this, but from an XS Max to 12 Pro - I was torn about the decision but I'm enjoying it! I really loved my Max size phone but was often on the verge of feeling like it was too big (mostly when i drop it on my face in bed) and I kind of wanted to help myself out in mentally maybe not always being glued to my giant screen, ha ha...

Overall I am happy with the decision! The only weird thing is that I almost feel like the 12 Pro is heavier than the XS Max even though it isn't - I think it has to do with the smaller form factor and the phone feeling more "concentrated" vs the big, leafy XS Max with more distributed weight. I don't know if that makes any scientific sense but it's my feeling on it haha.

Of course for me coming from XS Max vs 11 Pro Max, it was a bit less of a debate since it was a more clear-cut upgrade in terms of phone specs vs feeling like I was losing something I already had (whether battery life or anything else)

Any with them side by side in the same shot/video? I cant seem to find this

Not exactly in the same position, as I still own an 8+ and haven't decided what I'm going to do, but I am at least considering a 12 Pro instead of the 12 Pro Max. Mainly the weight and size of it. Double edged sword though because I like the larger screen size and battery life +/Max Phones provide. And the camera, though there's only slight, yet significant differences between the Pro model cameras. I need to see these devices in person before I can decide. Definitely interested in feedback from those who have downsized however.

That is exactly why I upgraded my 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro. Big phones are getting heavier and heavier.
