For me, I would choose the Air, no fan and silent. I don't need the extra grunt, prefer silence. I'd miss the better screen but people say, oh the fan never kicks in, but it would and it would get noisier as it gets dust in it. My Mac mini fans kick in but that is under the desk, your laptop is right next to you.

Yeah the thing is, if the fan never kicks in, then why have it at all? If you carry your machine around, and the fan never kicks in, you are carrying around a fan that you never use.
