Why would I buy .Mac over, say, a LunarPages account that has more space, more bandwidth, and more support for a fully dynamic website.

I intend on hosting audio, video, message boards, pictures, etc...

.Mac is like $60 right now, and a LunarPages account is $96 with a lot more features.

What makes .Mac so great?

.Mac suits some people completely and others not at all. People who want to share things with others or have many computers that they need to sync find it easy to use. Try the 60 day free trail. It is optional. If it doesn't suit you, don't buy it.

Don't forget slow.

There is little reason. However, it's so easy and is integrated with a few popular Mac apps, so if you're like my parents, you don't want any hassle. Some older people don't care if you pay a little too much per year if it's a little bit more convenient, even if they don't get as much "spec" out of it as they should.

Steve gets more money this way as well.

How tailored are Mac applications/iLife tailored to .Mac?

I want to publish a webpage using iWeb, but would publishing it on another host detract from my page at all? (i.e. for blogging, photos, etc.)

What's the bandwidth limit for .Mac? The 1gb space is really small 🙁
