hi,

i dont agree on what you say, a PC does go for 8 houres - some - but in long term - first couple of months - it will go to 4-3 houres and after 6 months its 1.5, for example, point is, Macbook lasts longer in any way.

thank you :)

Just so that you're not confused, a PCs battery doesn't just last for a few months before the battery life starts to die. That's bull.

Secondly, Macs don't necessarily last longer than PCs. I was a researcher at a university, and now I work a hospital. Both places have LOTS of PCs that are 6-10 years old. I scan radiographic films using a film scanner attached to a 10 year old Dell that included Windows ME. It's around a decade old. I have also used old Macs. ;)

People always have a story of a G3 PowerMac they owned for 10 years, while their PC lasted for 2 years. Sorry, but for every one of those stories, there are stories of 7 year old T-series IBM Thinkpad laptops that are still working just fine.

Also, remember that Macs use essentially the same hardware as everyone else, and no amount of Apple engineering can make their components last longer. Everyone who has a really old Mac that still works owns a Mac that does NOT use Intel. When Apple switched from Motorola and IBM to Intel, their hardware became as reliable as everyone elses. If you spend over $6000 HKD on any laptop in HK, I'm sure that they will last just as long as a Mac. Again, the hardware is the same.

I love Macs, but don't buy a Mac for bull**** reasons, and don't trust all Mac users. Everyone wants you to buy one, but we should also hope that you are happy with a Mac. :)

this ^

A Mac is no more different than the Win PCs you see around in terms of the hardware...with the exception of the design of the casing(which in no way impacts the performance of the system) .. You will face the same problems with reliability as the Win users are facing but you might get better customer care (which frankly for the price we are paying for the mac, is our birthright :))

Hell...3 years ago I bought my first Mac just because it looked the best among the lot...i did not even know what Leopard was...I just fell for the clean design and just could not get myself to buy a Win laptop...

Regarding the batteries, it is a no brainer that power management is the best in OSX...look around..you don't see many 17 inchers with 6-7 hours real world battery backup...

It's not just the hardware, it's the software. You have to defrag your HD, check for viruses, uninstall bloatware on Windows. Over time a Windows computer can become a vegetable if you haven't been constantly maintaining it. OSX takes care of itself. I'm not trying to be an :apple: fanboy, but having used PCs for over 10 years before converting to Mac, there are reasons why I will never go back.
