Why Maverick name??

They're moving to a naming scheme based on places in California.

 

Why cat name??

Do you really like old "Cat" name?

 

....also it's Mavericks.

 

Kind of liked the whole cat name thing, but as long as the OS works I couldn't care less what it's called.

When thinking Mavericks first thing comes to mind is Dallas no California.
