I'm pretty certain the hardware in the iPhone is capable of doing 120 fps 4k video, maybe even 240 fps. Why is Apple not going there yet?

The better question is what FPS will Dolby Vision work with? I'm worried 10 bit DV will only work at 30 FPS.

30fps on non-pro, 60fps on pro. Seems software locked to 30fps on non-pro models only because I don't see why the non-pro models wouldn't be capable of this.

As someone going for the pro model, I am happy with 60 FPS DV then

My guess is due to storage requirements and waiting for H.266 on next year’s silicon. Right now, 4K120 would consume about 1GB per minute using H.265. It’s not practical to save and transmit such big files for most users.
