I already upsold myself to a 512GB iPhone 8 Plus, and I would've bought one on Day 1, but surprise, Apple doesn't offer that capacity!

If they followed the iPad pricing, a 512GB model would be $200 over the 256GB one, so $1149 for a 512GB iPhone 8 Plus. Now I'm sticking with my 7 Plus 256GB as there isn't really that much improvement for me to pay $949 for the same storage space...

I don't think many require half a terabyte of of storage. That's likely Way more than most need. Even 256 GB is difficult to fill.

No surprise to me why 512gb isn't offered.

It would have been a weak seller...

I would like an option for a 512 gb. I don't need the space but Apple should have one.

I think it should be 128, 256, 512.

Yup. We can pretty much close this thread because I think you’ve covered it. :D

Seriously though, so few people need that much capacity that I don’t see what the point would be.

I think it should be 128, 256, 512.

And that's exactly why Apple isn't offering it yet...128gb on the entry level iPhone would be giving money back to the consumer.

You will have to make do with the 64gb (entry) or pay for the storage upgrade.

I had my 128GB iPad Air 2 and 6s Plus about 75% full over the 3/2 years I had them... and most of the space was just a dozen digital movie files that I swapped in and out a few times a month. I have a habit of listening to movies (instead of music) at work as a way to make the day go faster. (For those who have seen my 8 Plus battery posts with the 13+ hours of streaming video at work earlier this month, now you know why :) )

When I upgraded to the 12.9 Pro and the 8 Plus the 256GB was the obvious choice. It took me like 2 seconds to decide I didn't need 512GB on the Pro and would have made the same decision if it were offered in the phone.

Well for the prices they charge is it really that unreasonable to ask for 128? It's not like the device is being sold cheap...

I would much rather see an option to upgrade to 4 or even 6/8 GB of RAM than 512 GB of storage.

It's not the sweet spot for apple profitability.

Apple didn't offer 128 because Apple knows that most are going to pass on 64.

Exactly, forcing people to spend the extra $150.00 dollars for the 256. That’s what’s bothering me the most about the iPhone X.

I’m slightly over 64gb and 128 was perfect lol

If the ip8 or the ipX were offered in a 128gb entry model... a lot of people would stick to that.

Hence the 64gb instead...this is not rocket science.

Right so why not offer 128 entry if that's what many customers would want? Not rocket science.

Two reasons. Very few people actually need that much storage on a phone, and Apple wants to sell people that do need that much storage a monthly iCloud subscription, and ideally Apple Music as well.

That's why they kept the 16 around for so long guys. Most people only needed a 32 back then, but they forced you to go to 64 or 128. Then 128 or 256.

They want to minimize the number of people buying the cheapest iPhone. It's all about maximizing their revenues.

Edit: Heh. If it wasn't, we'd also have the best camera in the 8. :)

I was happy that they didn't announce a 512GB iPhone 8+, as I didn't want to upgrade this year, I hope they do have a 512GB in 2018, I'm also hoping they keep the 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone's, plus the X in whatever they decide.

Rumor the whole time was three storages for each, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB for 8/8+, and then 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB for X, but I think the shortage of parts for the X made it so they only announced the 64GB and 256GB options, plus only two colors, unlike the 8 with 3 colors.

I'd have to imagine it would have been even harder to get a X if they had 3 Colors and/or 3 Capacities like rumored.

Even now, with however many X's to go around, you have to figure they have to have a set amount for 64GB White, 64GB Space Grey, 256GB White, and 256GB Space Grey, then in all 4 carriers, plus Unlocked from Apple Store, so not a lot to go around.

Because 256gb iphone x is already crazy expensive
