Why no free bumper after Sept30?

And they don't make revenue selling over priced products to begin with? Come on, we all know Apple makes more than enough profit margin on their stuff. Giving away free cases won't break the bank. If they are going to sell a mostly glass surfaced cell phone, they should include a case with the purchase. They went from metal to plastic and now glass, the device is getting so fragile that you'd think Apple would include an Otterbox Defender case for crying out loud.

Yeah so, they make and have a gazillion dollars. So what. They did not get there giving away s*** indefinitely. Why would Apple want to continue to give away free bumpers? It sets the wrong tone and people will expect freebies all the time, like with this thread.

Guy can afford a $230 cell phone with a plan of minimum $90 a month but can't purchase a case for himself.
And why should I be forced to pay for a case to fix a MANUFACTURING DEFECT with the iphone4? What would you apple guys that have this attitude about the free bumpers have said about Microsoft if they made customers who paid $199-$399 for an Xbox360 BUY accessories to fix a manufacturing defect with the systems cooling? The bottom line is that if Apple doesn't want to hand out free bumpers for the rest of the iphone 4's existence, then they need to actually fix the problem. I dont see how anyone could think that the customer should suffer because the manufacturer made a design mistake.

No one is forcing you to buy the phone. If it's that big of a problem return the phone or don't buy it.

Actually it's minimum $55 a month. But y'know, nice try.

The point isn't about being cheap re: a case. The point is Apple gave away the case because of a mistake they made. If the mistake isn't going to be fixed in September, why stop giving away cases?

Because no one is forcing one to buy an iphone? One who gets one after the 30th knows full well about the "antenna" issue and are proceeding anyways. If it is a deal breaker, don't buy it but you can't really have people playing the "I never heard about this issue" card

I BOUGHT my case and have not redeemed the offer. I bought the case I have before the offer was available and am just plain too lazy to fill out the info in the app, so this thread isnt even an issue for me. I was just giving my opinion on the topic of the thread. In no way should a design flaws cost to repair be passed on to the consumer. That is just a horrible business ethic.

Quite honestly, I'm about ready to return the phone!

I have been having No Service and Voicemail unavailable issues when not on Wifi. I never had this issue before with the iPhone 3G. We have another iPhone 4 in this house and it isn't having this issue here. I did trouble shooting with AT&T for an hour and even had the sim card replaced, but it's still having the same issue. This issue popped up the first day after I bought it, now its been doing it every day for over a week.

It is hard to understand the sarcasm on here. It is like everyone is having fun seeing who can give it out the most. We are not all as savvy as some of you. If it is a silly question, why answer? I thought I could come here and get answers. But I afraid to ask.

Those customers who have antenna problems after Sept. 30 can still receive a free Bumper case by requesting one through AppleCare.

Regardless I will be gettin the iPhone sometime in October as I need to save up a couple more weeks. So then I get no free bumper? I don't understand why apple is not giving free bumpers after sept 30. Am I missing something?

Why do they have to?...

Apple has determined that even less people are experiencing antenna issues than they thought. So the need to give away a case isn't that great after all. If you buy an iPhone 4 after September 30th and can demonstrate to Apple that you are actually having the problem, they will send you a bumper. Otherwise there was no reason to continue taking the loss or allowing for such a generous alteration to the standard return policy.

I'm sorry, but I agree with Gomez.

No one is making you buy an iPhone 4.

If you buy one and have reception issues, you can return it within 14 days and reset your eligibility and pick up a different phone (a 3GS or a Captivate for instance) or sit on your eligibility until next year when a newer iPhone will be out that might change the design.

Apple's not making you buy a new phone. They didn't HAVE to give out bumpers in the first place.
