I disagree about the UI. I like Mint Linux better. More customizable and modern.

But the debugging of the whole system is worse than macos systems.

As long as the users stay within the frames that the developers set for users, everything is fine.

There is not much demand to run Linux on Mac hardware. Linux has the same base root as MacOS hence, we can expect similar strength and weakness on both. Plus, macOS offers more integrated and better UI.

The demand is to run an updated os on older macs that are no longer supported by apple.
Not everyone needs or can afford to buy a new mac when their old one still works fine.

I've been playing round with a MBP from maybe 2017? with Ubuntu and man what an experience it's been. Because the Broadcom wifi would not work no matter what I tried, I had to buy a USB WIFI adapter which getting working with the correct driver was its own nightmare. Can't get the audio going no matter what I try. And I thought maybe a use for it would be as a server - nope, none of my devices will connect to it. It's been so off-putting I don't really use the thing now.

Just like there's "not much demand" for crate-engines, because Average Joe driver has zero interest in building the goddamned car. Did you even read the OP?

(I consider "updated" OSes to be an inferior approach versus locating updated software that can be used in the faster OS the machine ran best with. And to hell with OCLP if they're not going to support HFS+ anymore. I wish there was a "Linux" distro that was a rebadged hack of a debloated Mojave (with High Sierra and Tiger kexts) with all version-checking disabled so that any app, and the OS itself, could at least launch and succeed or fail on its own merits.)

Finances have nothing to do with it; the primary issue is that, aside from speed, Macs are getting shattier. Like almost everything electronic within the last half-dozen years especially, they are deliberately built to be actively hostile to user attempts to repair or upgrade, and to brick at OEM whim.

I agree with this - I was responding to the demand for running LINUX on mac harware.

Maybe not for you, certainly do for me. But I agree with "shattier" sentiment.
