Um... actually you can get iPhoto to open automatically if you're using an SD card reader too. quit spreading FUD, many people use SD cards for everything from cameras to Cellphones to organizers. Just like people use e-sata, firewire, and more then 2 USB ports. It's ridiculous how much crap Apple fanboys will take for the "team".
Not sure I understand your point, then. You have pointed out just what others have that there are multiple other, very easy ways to access SD cards. How is that an argument for the added redundancy of a built in card reader? Your statement simply reinforces that it is unnecessary, and is a non-issue for a majority of computer users/buyers, PC or Mac.

Case in point is my BlackBerry. It uses a MicroSD card. Do you know what a PIA it is to remove the battery (rendering my BB useless for a time), release the card, place it in and adapter, and then put it into a card reader slot? And then reverse the whole process when finished? Why on earth would I do that when I could simply use a USB cable?

I don't know who decided to remove it in new MacBook Pro, but it is a really bad decisions. I would be really considering upgrade if the SD slot is there
