Just a minor detail but I think it'd add a lot to the look of the space gray iPhone.

The gold has a gold ring around the home button and the silver has a silver ring around the home button. You'd think it'd be pretty simple to put a silver (or space gray) ring around the home button to add a little contrast to the all black home button on top of the all black screen.

I'm being picky I know

Update 11/2/14 - I just received the aluminum ring home button stickers and was able to get just the silver outer ring part out easily and put it on my phone around the home button. It fits perfectly! And I can still use TouchID just fine. More pics on the 2nd page.

Best 99 cents I've ever spent (I bought a few just in case I messed it up haha)

I've been wondering the same thing! I'm looking at some pictures and sometimes it looks like its there but its not. When I got my iPhone 6 that was the first thing I tried to eye ball and its clearly not there, sometimes it looks silver because they way the light shines on the slightly angled black "ring" around the home button but thats it :/

It's funny because in the official pics off Apple's website, they add this light/glare to emphasize the home button. Would look pretty slick if there was a silver/space gray ring around it instead!

And I'm kinda glad they didn't do it. I like the very black front face of my phone. I just wish the back were as a dark grey as the iphone 5 or even black. I hate the light back. And my nice opaque dark blue case does not make it better cause the blue would look better with black underneath.

You're not being picky at all because I wondered the same thing. A silver ring around the the home button on the SG would have made it look sexier!:D

I think the reason is this. When you look at the white models (silver/gold) you see a lot more of things on the front, such as the camera, the microphone, the edges around the screen, the ring around the home button, etc. So it makes sense to go ahead and set the ring off a bit with some color.

When you look at the black front, you don't really see much of anything. It's one of the things I love about it. When the screen is on, everything on the bezels basically disappears and I can focus on the screen. I think Apple understands this aesthetic advantage, and it may have even been something Jobs and/or Ive pushed for from the original iPhone. When they went to making white iPhones, it changed that a bit, and it was a way to do something different, but I think they want to keep the black they way it has been through the years.

When the 5s came out I thought the same thing. But now I kind of like not having a colored Touch ID ring.

I agree with above. The white 3G/3GS also had black front (making it an oreo) for this reason.

Why no silver (or space gray) ring around the home button on space gray iPhones?

For 99 cents, you could try something like this... lol
Try and just get the metal ring part (not the whole sticker because then touchID wouldn't work obviously)

Edit - I just ordered 2 of the black one with the silver aluminum ring. Will prob use one as a guinea pig. We'll see how it works out lol

How does this work with the Touch ID?

Edit: never mind. Misread the post.

The gold has a gold ring around the home button and the silver has a silver ring around the home button.

Those are basically WHITE phones. In a case out of case still a white phone.

Space gray is black, face looks better all black.

Wait, so what color is it? Is it anodized black?

It looks space grey on the website. What did the 5s have? I vividly remember the press shots showing a space grey ring on it too.

This is what I'm gonna attempt to do once these aluminum home buttons come in...

why not completly different colors? all iphone colors are more (gold) or less (silver/white) plain ugly.

No not being picky it's the reason I chosen a diff color but black (space grey) sells out fast

One of the main selling points about the Space Grey version is it's sleek, black, clean front face. It looks stylish and professional and makes the screen stand out when it's turned on. Putting a silver TouchID ring around the home button would just kill the aesthetic appeal of the Space Grey.

That's the main reason I have always chosen to go for the Black/Space Grey version of all my past iPhones and for many others who go for the Space Grey.

The ugly white bezel on the Silver/Gold versions just ruins the clean design of having a clean black slab screen IMO and is suited to those who like to seek attention to their iPhone.

I might be wrong but isn't it the ring that detects when you place your finger on the sensor, meaning it may not work with the sticker over it?
