Is there a reliable 3rd party timer app that consistently runs in the background without being active?

i dont think so. apple doesnt let any 3rd party app run in the background. thats why no clock app on the ipad can out do the apple clock app on the iphone/itouch

There are a ton of very good free weather and calculator apps for the iPad.

...but no weather apps that integrate as nicely as the Weather app on the iPhone does, which is a major downer.
