BTW: This sounds very similar to the iPhone 17 Pro vs Air debacle....
It's not a matter of price and features - it's a matter of one's intention to use a Macbook as a tool or fit a mission need. A18 MB if it's thin, light and easy to transport, I am in.
Your tools are different than my tools, as are others.
Daily 15" M2 MBA used as a work desktop computer with 32" display on 10GBps ethernet.
For field use, I have a 13.6" M2 MBP which is perfect for work in the field.
At home I have a Mac Studio Max and love the humongous amount of RAM, tons of cores and dual 27" displays on 1GBps ISP ethernet is perfect for me.
Travelling internationally, my super thin, lightweight and easy to transport 2017 12" Retina Macbook is aging and the new A18 Macbook would be a perfect replacement as I don't need any "Pro" features whilst on holiday.....
