If you're using that many apps, maybe you could try what I do. I have a ton of apps downloaded (I usually hop on free offers in case I ever want to try the app), but i keep the majority of them on my desktop. I have my sync setting where I check only the apps I want. If I start having an urge to play a certain game that I don't have on my device, I just sync it to it.

If you're on the road a lot, and don't use a notebook to sync, though, this plan might be a problem. Just a thought..

I have like 20 apps and probaly only use 2 of them . Has anyone ever played a game for more then 5 mins? Bc I have never bc I get bord real quick with my apps . It's just not a gaming device like psp and ds.

Maybe not for you, but I can play some of these games for hours, it seems. Just last night I had to stop myself from continuing Fieldrunners so I could get to bed! Haha.

And besides, there's more apps than just games. I use Air Mouse, Deliveries, Simplify, and Facebook on a daily basis.

while its true that only a few people have 148+ apps, how much harder is it to allow more pages even if most people dont use them all.

I think folders is the best way to manage stuff!
It would be awesome to have a Games folder that contains all of your games, and a Business folder that contains all of your business app and so on...

try enigmo it will keep busy for more than 5 min for sure :)

I honestly don't see why some people here are defending apple's seemingly arbitrary limit of 148 apps. There are people that need more space, and from a business point of view, it is in apple's best interests to let people download (and buy) as many apps as they can cram into 8/16/32 GB.

well, there is a reason Apple made limitation. try stock, weather, clock to fill as many as possible you can. you can't. there is a limit. why? I think that processor or some hardware issue handle limited items. Apple knows that already, and is smarter than you. so they just handle everything in advance before reaching to your hand. by the way, who plays all 148 apps whatever? you really have time to do all that? I don't. I am so busy to handle my job. do you? if you complain, you must be a student, or teenager, or have tons of time to kill yourself. get a life. now I know it is limited 9 pages.

Way to be an ass. No, really. You just about nailed it this time. I can see it must come naturally to you. Not everyone is that lucky. Kudos.

I might even think that you're right about hardware limitations, but I'd never say either way now. I know I have 5 pages of apps, all of which I use every few days. There are people who use that many apps; the fact that you don't is completely irrelevant.

Why would u want that many pages? U wouldn't know what page that one app is on and u would have to keep swiping . You know what I mean?

I don't want that many pages, so if apple would enable us to use folders, or other means of organization, I would have max 3 pages.

My friend has 9 pages... and then complained saying Apple didn't let him use all of his 32GB. He went out and bought a Zune and said that iTunes didn't work. So in short, stop being a download whore. Be thankful for what you have.

Be thankful for what you have.

If people were all just satisfied with what they have, we'd still be living in the forests and jungles with the rest of the apes.

Yes, the iPhone/Touch is a great little device as it is now, but there's always room for improvement, and a better way to organize apps is one of the things that could be improved. Both me and my partner jailbroke our iPhone/Touch primarily because we got frustrated swiping through page after page looking for a particular app. Now we have folders on our iPhone/Touch, courtesy of Categories, and we love it.

spaces

space would be a great idea.
I could imagin it it, three fingers held down on screen for 2 seconds and you get this (sorry about crappy animation):

Muncher

Made a new concept to forfill muncher's complaint, what to do you think (again, sorry for the crappy animation):

That's pretty cool, kind of like appflow for jailbroken 'Pods. Maybe, pulling from your original idea, people could name screens, an flick around different screens in an "overview" mode to view more than nine pages.

It's pages for pages! :p:D

The key here is once in a while. Just manage the apps from iTunes.

That would be SO COOL if you were sitting at your computer in BFE nowhere when you needed that app that you parked in iTunes.

WTF people...so what if he has 148 apps, why cant you have 200 apps on the phone? 300?

Dont blame him for not managing his apps, he BOUGHT them, he should be able to load a reasonable amount of apps on his phone..and oh ya, 'reasonable' is the consumer's decision, not Apple's.

Its likely an oversight to be solved in a later OS upgrade.

as it has been said

there is a list and they are working down it

Needed/Wanted: Folders or Categories for iPhone

I am one of those who has used up every panel for my apps. I have had to delete several apps to make room for what I call the "serious" apps. I'm a full-time CSI and part-time R.N. so I have a lot of medical/work related apps. What irks me is that I am forced to delete apps. Of course, it sounds ridiculous to have so many apps, as one person stated how could one use so many? I do however, have many apps for medical, meditation apps, productivity/utility apps, and yes - games! I'm 45, but hey, I like games, too. And no, you don't play each game every single day, but it's like having a library with a lot of books. Do you really read all of them? No, but they're a part of your collection, and you paid for them. I have PAID for these apps and I want to be able to access them when I want to and it is pissing me off that I have to delete some of the more ridiculous ones that are no-brainer and simply for fun to make room for the work-related ones.

I find it hard to imagine those that have not sucked up every panel yet. Geez, even if you're just a kid with no use for the utility type apps, wouldn't a teen go nuts for all the games? And with all of the new apps that are continually coming out.... And if you're an adult with few apps, maybe you're just not that addicted to your iPhone like I am, or you're not single like am, therefore are not as glued to your iPhone. Perhaps when I am in a relationship again I will spend a lot less time perusing the App store, lol. :)

Apple/iTunes is only hurting themselves by not allowing a program like Categories by Cydia to be created as a downloadable app. There are more I'd like to purchase, but have reached the point where I just do not want to delete any more of my apps. The last few I deleted were a tough decision to begin with. So, in the meantime, I will refrain from purchasing any more apps, and they will not get my money. It's simple... Create Folders = People Will Buy More Apps

I doubt Apple foresaw the explosion of apps to this degree when they released the SDK's, but c'mon, now they know, so they need to get with the program and do something about it.

My iPhone has become an indispensable tool that --> yes, I can't imagine how I've lived without it, yes, it's glued to my body, and yes, everyone keeps telling me I'm always using it.

Please, please, Apple come up with something for those of us that do not care to jailbreak our phones.

More pages please!!!

That would be SO COOL if you were sitting at your computer in BFE nowhere when you needed that app that you parked in iTunes.

Exactly. I have 9 pages of apps and I would love to have more, sure I don't use all of them in one day but thought the week I use most of them. I have already deleted a few and I still run out of pages. It not easer to "manage your apps" through iTunes because I only connect my phone every month or less and I still use most of them. I don't understand why some people are saying you don't need more pages because unless you run out of pages then you would know that you need more and not that you need to "manage" them.

who plays all 148 apps whatever? you really have time to do all that? ... get a life.

Seems pretty clear that lots of folks who use 148 apps have a life--very interesting lives, in fact, and it seems like they are exactly the kind of customers Apple will be interested in serving well ... :D
