Why PCI-X instead of PCI-E on PowerMac G5??

One thing about PCI-E is that you can read data from the graphics card much more quickly than is possible with AGP. The read speed difference is much larger than the write speed difference. I presume this will play into Apple's core image plans.

Its all in the backwards compatibility....

That's why pretty much all motherboards with PCIe include regular PCI slots as well.

Apple will implement PCIe for the same reason they adopted Bluetooth 2.0+EDR.

The question is not if, but when.

Yeah I've heard rumors PCIe is going to be on the next G5 Towers.
