I pre-ordered the iPhone 4 from Verizon when it was first released, and I had zero problems on the website at 3:00 AM EST (actually it went live early, like 2:45 or so). It arrived on release day, set it up and activated with no problems at all.

Is there any benefit to ordering directly from Apple? I mean, either way you still get the 1-year Apple warranty, so you can take it to either an Apple store or [in my case] Verizon store if necessary. It just seems like, since you're doing mobile account-based stuff, it makes more sense to order from your mobile provider.

Anyone...?

I just found out you can presign for the delivery thru apple, I need that since I will be stuck at work Friday

How? I assume they'll all be shipping via FedEx... my Verizon iPhone was not delivered because I was at work, so I had to drive to the sorting facility and pick it up.

So, I mean, would you do "pre-sign" through FedEx or through Apple, and where do you do that?

Honestly..it all just depends who you get through on first... all the sites get jammed quickly...a lot of F5 pressing... I usually try to go through both... but one alway works and the other doesn't

When you order through Apple they will offer a pre-sign option on the status page once its shipped. This way, you can have it left at your house if your at work. I doubt Verizon or At&t will offer this option.

Pre-signing means that you print, fill out, and sign a form (that says that FedEx can leave the package at your door) and then you tape the form to your door.

Your signature means that FedEx is not responsible if someone steals the phone while it's sitting in front of your door.

I have used this method multiple times and I have never had a problem, but I understand why people would be hesitant to do so.

How does it work when getting a VZ phone for the first time via apple.com. Do I order the phone and pay for it then set up a VZ account? Can I use different credits cards for each? What are the steps?

Can you preorder a full price ATT iphone 5 unlocked through Apple? Will there be that option. I don't want a phone on contract.
