Why putting the headphone jack on the bottom is no good

No, but it makes no sense to turn it upside down before putting it in your pocket. Apple is made to be intuitive. The bottom is intuitive.

Yes, I always do it the upside down way when I put it in my pocket. I guess its a habit😀
I dont know if they did it cause they are very "intuitive" all of a sudden after 5 iphones released.
Or it was just easier and they now had more room to stick it there next to the smaller lightning plug. Before it wouldnt fit on the bottom so they were not intuitive at all😀

This way lint won't go into any of openings and ports that would normally be at the bottom, in your case. And why have two different cords/cables (headphones/charger) on opposite ends?

This is a great idea. I may have to do this. My phone does get annoying at the gym sometimes. I need something small that won't weigh down my light shorts.

I see the iPhone 5 as a grand refinement of the iPhone. Maybe it wasn't intentional. Maybe it was. Either way, the phone is better off this way.

I think they just didnt want people annoying other talking on the phone or hogging machines if all they were going to do is text the whole time, because they allow iPods and those have cameras on them.

I hear you, I dont mind either way since I dont use it as an ipod much.
It definitely is better than all previous models in both looks and features.

True.
I tried bringing the iphone a few times but it got in the way, was falling off my pockets on the bench and other annoyances.
To me the ipod nano is perfect for the gym, its tiny and very light like a matchbox and you can clip it anywhere.
The new nano is bigger so Im staying with the old one as long as I can.
 
I quite like the re-design.
I always put my iPhone in my pocket upside down - this way when I pull it out and lift it up its upright - except when I have my headphones in!
Making FaceTime calls while using headphones is also a little annoying, you either have to hold the cable behind the phone or risk it getting in the way of the camera.
I also believe this change aligns the iPhone with the iPod touch now.
Just my thoughts.
 
I like it for the pocket reasons. My gym says not to bring your cellphones to the workout area, but I use pandora and ifitness. ifitness basically tells me when I need to push myself harder. I'm not sure how I could workout without it.
 
I'm sure they didn't move the headphone jack on a whim. The layout of the components in the new phone probably required that the jack be moved, which I'm sure was given careful consideration since all previous phones and had it on the top and Apple doesn't take such changes lightly. Evidently, the fact that the iPod touch has done just fine with the jack on the bottom led Apple to decide that it was reasonable for the iPhone to have it there too.
 
I want it on the bottom. When I'm travelling I have the phone plugged in for power and the audio jack plugged in the rental car stereo. Will be much nicer if they are on the same side.

It is a big problem with an iPhone 6. First of all, once you turn the phone on it's side, or upside down you lose the screen that tells what song is playing and the ability to advance it or play it again. Those features only appear if the phone is right side up. Otherwise you get a wallpaper shot of album covers. Furthermore, if you want to go on Facebook or play words with friends, or just about anything beyond look at a photograph, the screen remains locked in portrait view. It is impossible to view most things in landscape or upside down.

I hated the headphone jack being on the top on my S4. You had to keep adjusting to make sure it wouldn't drape down in front of the screen, and even when it was going down the back of the phone like it should, it tickled the back of my hand and it was kind of annoying.

I actually prefer it on the bottom now. When I'm driving the cord that I plug into it comes from the bottom. Before I used to have to wrap around and put it at the top.

On those cardio machines in the gym I just put it on its side and force portrait mode while I'm listening to music. Apple should give the 6 Plus the same landscape mode that the iPad has for the Music app.

Um, I just rotate mine 180 degrees and it's the exact same thing (with the home button on the top). Can yours not do that?

No. If I could I would be fine. But, I spent over an hour with Apple tech support today and was told that is the design of the iPhone6 and there is no way around it.

Maybe it's just the 6 Plus that can rotate 180 then, but that would seem odd...
 
I think the general problem is that people can't seem to do anything in life anymore unless they have their phone.

As for me, I think the cord should be moved back to the top of the phone. Coming out the bottom, the cord gets in the way of my bag of Doritos 😉

Couch potatoes have needs too lol
