Why "Retina" Cinema Displays may be later...

    True, but I don't think gamers are the main market for this kind of screen :)

    You still get sharp text / apps.
    You get sharp videos. (if and when 4K sources start showing up)
    Changing resolutions for games is more "CRT-like" in that you don't get the drastic quality drop from running at a resolution less than but close to native.
    Max settings is unrealistic. Dropping the quality settings to boost resolution is a compromise gamers are used to making.

    As if game makers are going to support 4k resolutions...lol.

    Most PC games are designed to be completely resolution agnositc. You can set them to 4K/5K today. Textures may not always be sharp.

    In the very article this thread links to, they run the games at 4K...lol.
