He probably has a weaker immune system. 3 months for salmonella is already a lot. Good luck in your stepdad's full recovery, though.

That sounds like an awful experience.
I had food poisoning for 2 days and I can't imagine going through that for longer.
Japanese food like you guys said (sukiyaki, sushi, etc) includes a lot of raw components so I need to be careful..

Sounds similar to whatever I had a couple summers ago. I started out simply feeling under the weather one morning. Then I got a fever. And by that night my GI tract was in full-out revolt. My stomach hurt constantly for a couple days, and it took another day or two for my innards to settle down. It was unlike any stomach flu I've ever had, and nobody else in the house got sick. I lost a good 5-10 pounds.

Interesting and entertaining thread. But salmonella infection is a serious situation and can lead to death in some cases. It's not something to take lightly.

I actually did have some pics I took with my phone, but I lost the USB cable for my phone, so not really able to upload it. :(

Not to mention parasitic infections from contaminated lettuce.

Hi! Just got out of the hospital for a 7 day stay for Salmonella colitis. How long was it until you could eat normal food again? I am living on ensure and activa and trying so hard to stay hydrated but it's tough. I'm on day 15 since symptoms began. How long does this last? How long was it until you could eat more than the full liquid diet and just stopped going to the bathroom constantly?

    Your story makes me cringe.

But, the Original Poster hasn't been seen in these parts for multiple years. Good luck with your recovery!

This is nothing compared to the pain and suffering of the hens. Male chickens ground up alive, therefore they had a better ending. Take it like a man. Eating eggs is a risk. It's not like if any base jumper or downhill bicycle racer ever complained about their pains. Alternatively, go vegan, if you can't handle the risks and pain of eating animals or animal products.

Because only vegans eat lettuce? I've been vegan for 5 years but I can count the number of raw lettuce I had in that time probably below 50. Not a big lettuce fan. Also, don't buy vegetables from farmers that also process animal food, or worse, fertilise with animal manure. It's really simple.

Reading this post was a real 'waste'. Hard to believe people find this 'crap' interesting. That said, I'm glad you are better now. Must be a real 'load' off. You must have been down in the 'dumps'.

Sorry...couldn't resist. Had to 'pile' on.

    ....poop.
