Hello,

I own an old fashioned Apple mouse, the usb one, the scroll ball only scrolls one direction and wondering if there is a way to clean it or if something is faulty in the hardware so that I better look at a replacement, any suggestion?

What would you suggest, with a cord, to replace it without to spend what could buy a computer?

Grazie

Believe it or not, holding the mouse upside down and rubbing the scroll ball on a printing paper firmly and in a 360 degree manner might do the magic. I have personal successful experience with that. But I don't want to take any responsibility if you break it by doing so. The risk is on your own.

I second this -- Have used that trick many times.

You could try cleaning the ball with isopropyl alcohol using a toothbrush or using compressed air. The only sure fire way is to take the thing apart and clean it that way but it's not the easiest.

Get a Logitech wireless mouse. Numerous ones available.
These use a USB "unifying receiver" and work very well.
Or... some of them use a USB cable for charging. You could just leave it plugged in all the time...
