I really don't understand (apart from the weight) why anyone should buy a 14 plus since the 13 pro max: it has the same processor, more ram, better materials, an extra camera and costs even less. What do you think?
Maybe for you, that’s your opinion… The screen is basically the same (both are OLED and the same resolution). I wouldn’t call the lack of ProMotion “significantly worse”. Not everyone cares about ProMotion or the camera. Maybe they’d rather have Crash Detection, Satellite SOS, and lighter weight.14 Plus is a 13 Pro Max with a significantly worse screen and worse camera system.
The answer is everyone has their own specific set of needs from their phone. If people think they’d be happier with the pro, after weighing the pros & cons, then they should get it. As long as they fully understand exactly what it is they’re buying, they’ll be fine.I really don't understand (apart from the weight) why anyone should buy a 14 plus since the 13 pro max: it has the same processor, more ram, better materials, an extra camera and costs even less. Exactly, I don't get this comparison. Apple doesn't sell it anymore and carriers will be running out soon if they haven't already. Most people aren't upgrading their phones by looking on the used phone market.Where are people finding these 13PM's for less than a 14+ ..??
With the 14 Plus you’ll get the same processor, same RAM (both 6GB), same size display, slightly better battery life, lighter weight, and SOS (if in the USA).I really don't understand (apart from the weight) why anyone should buy a 14 plus since the 13 pro max: it has the same processor, more ram, better materials, an extra camera and costs even less. I'm not sure how you judge that. Speaking for myself, I have the 14 Plus and have had the pro max phones in the past. I'm very happy with the 14 Plus and have stated my reasons in the other similar thread. The $200 and the weight are valid reasons believe it or not. Not sure why you feel the need to minimize it.I see many posts of people defending the 14 Plus who have already bought the 14 Pro or Pro Max. I don’t even understand their basis for defending the Plus if they wouldn’t even consider one for themselves, just to save $200 and some weight
I feel at least a couple things need to change before I would even consider the Plus:
1.) have the same processor as the Pro models
2.) at least have the dynamic island if not have everything for the screen including the di, promotion and brightness. Or no di and brightness, but at least have promotion
Then I would feel like the value is there for downgrading the casing material and losing the main 48mp camera and screen
Losing the SIM tray was already a big “courage” move for me to consider upgrading this year, so I’m going to want to maximize my investment from everything else that is new

Why not? Just because they have the Pro or Pro Max doesn't mean they can't see or appreciate the value the Plus has to offer for other people. I think it's silly the other way around...people pushing the Pro/Pro Max on others when the regular/Plus would suit them just fine. I love the Pro too, but I know it's overkill for some people.I see many posts of people defending the 14 Plus who have already bought the 14 Pro or Pro Max. Not calling you out, but I do see ProRAW and ProRes being touted as a reason to get the Pro. Don't get me wrong, it is...but I'd love to see numbers of how many people actually turn these on and use them. None of my friends or family members have used these, nor would they know how to properly edit a ProRAW photo, much less even have the proper tools/apps. I'm guessing this is true for the vast majority of people, but I could be wrong. To me, these feel like a niche feature. With the 13 Pro Max you’ll get better display with ProMotion, zoom lens, ProRAW and ProRes, stainless steel. I would go with the 13 Pro Max for the ProMotion (it’s noticeably better than 60Hz for me now), cameras, stainless steel, ProRAW option. YMMV.
That is why I think the regular 14 and 14 Plus feels like a ripoff and a cash grab compared to the Pro models as mentioned, it's basically the same phone as the 13 since it uses the same exact A15 SOC. If Apple just put the same A16 like the Pro model and add a third camera lens, maybe it would be more compelling, but it would canabalize the 14 Pro line, which has higher margins.I see many posts of people defending the 14 Plus who have already bought the 14 Pro or Pro Max. 100% agree with you - it depends on the person using the features. Why not? It's more complicated than that since Apple now is using software to lock features to the newer phone, even if the SoC is the same. Eg. Action mode. There's no reason the 13 Pro Max couldn't do it imo, but Apple kept it as 14 lineup only feature.14 Plus is a 13 Pro Max with a significantly worse screen and worse camera system.

The 14 plus also has a screen with lower max brightness. 14+ is max 800nits (typical) with 1200nits peak (HDR). 13PM is 1000/1200.Why you should buy 14 Plus:
- It's lighter
- It's "newer," and thus have software features that is not available on 13 Pro Max (eg. action mode).
- It has newer and more efficient modem
- You cannot even buy 13 Pro Max directly from Apple anymore, and even if you can find 13 Pro Max, it would probably be still more expensive than the 14 Plus brand new.
If you can find it, You should get the 13 Pro Max:
- If you must have telephoto lens, ProRAW, Pro-motion
- If you like the stainless steel material/colors/glossy design/frosty back
- You prefer heftier phone
- You need physical SIM slot (if you're in the US)
So does that mean if everyone is jumping off the mountain, you should do the same ??Well, that is the problem. I don’t understand what is the value for the non-pros at the price difference. The pros are selling very well already, for good reason
I don't like the wording of "scam" but getting the 13 Pro instead was the advice of this video I just watched.I really don't understand (apart from the weight) why anyone should buy a 14 plus since the 13 pro max: it has the same processor, more ram, better materials, an extra camera and costs even less.
