Why should I update my iPhone software? I’m still using the original 3.0.1 that came with my 3Gs, which I bought in June, 09. It is not jailbroken. I have had absolutely no problems with it as far as I can tell. I mostly use the it for a few apps, music, and photos. No games, no MMS. The battery seems to be working fine.

Is there any reason I should update the software and have all the problems everyone has been encountering? I hate to fix it if it's not broken.

If it's working fine for you don't bother. Aren't lots of people still on 3.0.1? I've always upgraded and it didn't bother me. So keep it if it suits you fine.

I always update to the latest software and never had any problems with it. Except that time everything on my iPhone got erased when upgrading from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3... but I just restored from backup and got my phone running in no-time again.

Software updates are great if they introduce new features or bug-fixes.
