And don't forget that unlike iPhones, it most likely won't get OS updates so it won't slow down with age due to updates. I mean, It's possible I guess, but I doubt it.

Of course the Watch OS will get updates for bug fixes, new software features, to work with newer iOS, etc.
Yeah but it won't get major updates like iOS. sure it'll get security fixes and stuff like that, but it won't get any major updates
Why not? All iDevices to date have received major OS updates for several years after debut. Whether they run well on the newest OS is another story.
Just because you run iOS 8.2 on an iPhone 4s, does not mean it actually has all features of iOS 8.2.
I've read all over the internet that the Apple watch will be obsolete in similar life cycles as the iPhone. Here is why the Apple watch won't go obsolete:
If it tells time, that's all it needs to do to compete with any precious watch.
A new battery, like any other watch, will restore it's value.
Wonderful proposition. Because you have to charge your Rolex, Breitlings, etc. as well every couple of days to tell you the time...

Apple Watch has OLED display, which doesn't last long enough for 10+ years of use.
After 1,000 hours (41 days) of use, blue OLED element typically loses about 12% of its brightness. If the watch's display is used 3 hours a day, you will hit that curve in about a year.
After 14,000 hours of use (1.6 years), brightness will be down to more critical 50%. Or if you use 3 hours a day, within 13 years.

Apple's entire business model is based on obsolescence. They'll ensure this watch becomes obselete so people have to go and buy a new one.
