The galaxy note 2 which I bought few years ago has a 8MP camera. Why such an expensive high end iPad PRO uses 8MP camera as well?

I think the camera is there just to have one just in case so 8MP is plenty. Unlike an iPhone where it seems people are constantly taking pictures or an iPad where it seems people rarely use it to take pictures instead of their handy phone, the much larger iPP will probably see it's camera used even less then the smaller iPad.

If you want to take good quality photos, don't use a huge tablet which is inherently difficult to keep steady. 8MP is plenty for the rare times you will take photos with an iPad Pro.

And if you go to a concert, do not bring your iPad Pro and film the whole thing. Someone behind you is very likely to smash it to pieces.

I get having camera on the back of iPads for those moments where it would be convenient to snap a picture or turn the camera around during FaceTime. But I've seen people take iPads to Universal, the beach, etc. and use it as a camera and that is so beyond weird to me. They're too big to be a camera, a better front facing camera would be more valuable than even bothering with the rear one. Tablets aren't designed to be a camera and I think Apple knows that.

Actually, a tablet would be much easier to keep steady than an iPhone as holding your arms close to your sides for stability would be more comfortable with a tablet.

I think I'd prefer to use the iPad Pro with my Eye-fi SD card in my SLR for taking pictures than a small 8MP sensor. Hell, I'd rather use my 6+ and share them across..

Still, whatever floats your goat. I think iPad photo taking looks silly as it is with a 9.7 incher. Try it out in store, 8MP should be plenty anyway.

dont care about the rear camera, but im pissed the front camera isn't as good as the iphone 6s. i will be using facetime on this more than taking pics with rear camera

8MP is plenty for lots of things.

We use iPads at trade shows. When a customer visits the booth we can photograph the bar code on their badge and quickly get their contact information.

I also use this in the lab to image samples while I'm taking notes during an analytical session.

Not all photos are high art. Sometimes we just need a clear image to document something and for that the 8MP camera in the iPad is great.

Why is one relevant to the other? Why do you need more than 8MP? What are you not able to do with 8MP that you could do with more MP? Why are you only concerned about MP and not all the other factors that affect image quality?

Because you're not supposed to use iPad as a camera constantly. Don't be that guy. Use your iPhone instead.

I can see it now, everyone running about with their 12.9" iPad taking 4K Videos and selfies around about town. Because that's obviously going to be popular AND ergonomic for trouser pockets on the iPad PRO. Joining in with the all capitals trend to make sure nobody is confused that we mean iPad MINI or iPad AIR because lower case is harder to understand, allegedly.
