You feel compelled to start a thread about why you like a 6-year old smartphone? You need to tell people this? Why? You still like it, that's great. But why feel compelled to announce it to the world? Good grief.

Well, you know. Nobody made you read this thread, so i dunno why it matters much. As Goatllama noted, i guess expressing my happiness is frowned upon. Sorry this isnt your normal iPhone thread where someone is complaining that "My screen has a yellow tint", or, "my camera rattles, is it broken?"

If ones happiness really bugs you that much, seek help dude. Make some more..positive elements in your life.

i agree with the guy who wrote that article/story. Even I had a good experience with my handset "Black berry curve"

It's a phone. Looking at it in a purely utilitarian terms, I can get by with any smartphone, or even a dumb phone. Just like I can get by with any car.

Point is, I don't have to, so why would I?

You view your phone as I do my kitchen knives I have bought over the years. (my work knives (i'm a chef)). Though the thing is, my knives won't go obsolete after a number of years, if anything they will just get better with the feel and take care of them.

Greatest design for me was the 4. Nothing beats dumb slabs of glass and stainless steel tbh not even full aluminum. Of course aluminum is better than plastic but holding a nice weighed glass/hard metal can't be beat. Only if they can make it by today's standards which is thinner. Glass front/back with stainless steel band with rounded edges...would buy in a heart beat.
iPhone 4 was great design at the time for sure, but comparing it side by side with iPhone 6/6S makes it look quite outdated and not that great in comparasion. Also, in my opinion glass back panel on an object which is relatively easy to drop is horrible design choise in my opinion. It's a recipe for disaster.

Personally I think iPhone 6 is the best iPhone design so far. Some may feel differently but each on their own I guess.

Beautiful design: 4/4S. I still think the 4/4S to be the most beautiful iPhone to date. It looks sleek and the premium feel was unmatched. Even today, the 4/4S still feels great on the hand. One can critique it for antennagate/glass back, but one cannot deny how beautiful the design is.

Most "wow" first impression: On the other hand, I had the most memorable first impression on the iPhone 5, for how light it is (versus the 4/4S). Sure, today it's not a big deal, but back then I was quite amazed and impressed on how Apple could make such a light phone filled with better tech than the 4/4S.

6/6S is one of the ugliest. I don't deny the awesome tech like the A9 chip inside, but come on, the white antenna lines, especially on the gold and rose gold ones are just ugly. The least Apple could've done is to color match them with the aluminum, but no.

This article is silly. Running your personal info through apps that can't be updated because of an obsolete phone / OS is a huge security risk, and on top of that, the screen resolution on anything pre-iPhone 5 is ****ing horrid. And I can't even imagine possibly ever surviving on a 3G connection, YIKES.
Most of these apps, I would imagine, allow updates on older iOS versions. I think I saw an app that minimally needed iOS 5 the other day. I'd have to look, but I think banking apps and such don't require much, if any, of the bells and whistles of more robust hardware and OS. I mean, it's a banking app. It shouldn't need much.

EDIT: The bank of america app requires iOS 7.0 or later. I imagine most such apps have similar requirements. Still very usable on the hardware mentioned in this article.

I miss my white 3GS, it was the best ergonomic design, felt great in the hand. It held up really well to wear and tear, the polycarbonate took some beating, even a deep gouge wouldn't have shown up a change in colour because it wasn't just a coating.

If only it had a high res screen, (and the iOS updates didn't nuke it into obsolescence) it would have lasted me a lot longer than three years.

I'd love if the purported 4" 6C was plastic too, it will be my new favorite phone.

A banking app should have the most advanced security features possible with the latest OS to prevent database breaches.
The app itself doesn't need the latest iOS though. That's my point. Show me a banking app that always requires the latest iOS update. I haven;t come across any, but I also haven't used more than 2-3.

How many people are getting their banking information information hacked due to the fact that it requires 2-3 year old iOS at minimum? I think this would be making national news. This is a non issue.

I went ahead and did a bit more research:
Chase 8.0 (highest I found)
Capitol One 7.1
TD Bank 7.1
Rabobank 7.1
Citizens Bank 7.0
Discover 7.0
Sun Trust 6.0
Well's Fargo iOS 6.0

Those are a few, off the top of my head (and by searching "bank" in the appstore), that I could of.

Just goes to show the S models are the best for longevity. As mentioned in the article, the 3GS went from iOS3 to iOS6 (and was still usable), the 4S went from iOS5 to iOS9 (and beyond? - although iOS9 isn't too great). The iPhone 5S will probably live on for a bit.

My favoutite iPhone from a design was the 4/4S - very classy and lovely to hold. I didn't think I'd like the 5s as much, but I did (but it's more of an evolution than the revolution with the 4 design). Jury is out on the 6s, but so far not as good to hold as the older models.

Valid point, 6/6s are beautiful phones
