I have decided to get a 13" 2019 MacBook Pro to the following specification to suit my needs:

2.4ghz i5
256gb SSD
16Gb RAM

Now if I take the standard configuration with 8Gb RAM I can walk out of a store with it today. However switching to 16GB of RAM (or any other form of customisation) tells me delivery would be 11-15 Jul or pickup in store on 15 Jul. I've searched loads including the flagship store in Regent St, London and none have stock.

I'm on a time limit as I fly back to the UK this week and leave again on 10 Jul. So 11-15 Jul is no good to me.

Is the 16gb upgrade not popular? Surely even if not it doesn't take 2 wks to solder some RAM?

I remember on previous versions most simple BTO were 2-3 days, not 2 weeks. I could understand if this was a complete design refresh. But it isn't, it's a processor & keyboard refresh.

Does anyone know of any stores in the UK that stock 16Gb versions of the 2019 13"? I've tried John Lewis and Currys. But they only stock standard specs.

I could be wrong but thats just an estimated time and they usually ship earlier than stated. I guess you wouldn't want to risk it knowing your travel plans.

I do also know that some stores stock the higher end configs and its pure pot luck as to which ones so I would phone a few stores to see availability.

It's frustrating indeed. At first I thought Apple just kept it's starting price artificially low by offering 8GB in the standard config. But with these delivering times I'm starting to think that they really think that 8GB is enough for most users. What a joke...

I phoned apple up to see if they could see where held any stock. The nice chap is going to do that for me. Just find it really odd that the 16GB version is not held in stock.
[doublepost=1561969060][/doublepost]Oh and if I change to a 2.8ghz i7 and a 1TB SSD then I can collect same day!! But will pay an extra £700 for the privilege, in which case I may as well get the base spec 8 core 15"!
