Since the latest Windows update the trackpad is very very good for tracking and scrolling. Its still smaller than the MacBook's, lacking a full suite of gestures, and of course no Force Touch, but it is extremely easy to live with now.

In truth I'm really only concerned with how it feels and general scrolling and pointing all the extra swipes etc are wasted on me :) if it's up to Apple standards in this respect that's fine for me.

An update to my issue: I DON'T get this issue on Bootcamp Windows. The cursor moves around smoothly. Suggestions?

When did this start happening? Did it start happening after installing anything / changing something? Anything you can think of that could be the culprit? I'd want to avoid a clean reinstall of the OS, but it could be a viable option.

Coming from a late 2013 rmbp and MBA, I do find the macbook's trackpad to be "different". I think it's even more sensitive. It could also be El Capitan as my macs are running Mavericks.

I also find the two finger back /forward gestures on Safari very finicky probably caused by this. I can't remember if I had this issue on Yosemite, maybe it's the El Capitan update.

Due to not being able to move the cursor smoothly on OS X my aim in FPS gaming is also a lot worse than on Windows.

Note, I get the same issue with an external mouse. The trackpad itself isn't the issue I now realise.

I find it to be a problem when selecting certain small menu items. I didn't expect this on supposedly the best trackpad in the business.
I have a Early 2015 Retina MacBook Pro 13" with the Force Touch trackpad. I can say that it is not behaving the way the OP is describing. The Force Touch tackled feels just as accurate as the original glass trackpad that it replaced. I use the link peeking feature a lot on Safari.

Logitech has the only Windows trackpad that I consider in the same league as th Apple Trackpad. It's a T650.

I'm inclined to think that the sensitivity has not been adjusted in the settings or the trackpad on that MacBook is defective.
