Why update text from ATT?

    Me and a few friends got this text telling us to upgrade to 2.2....:confused:

    You should post a screen shot.

    Not sure why they would send it or how they would know your firmware version.

    I got the same text. I'm on 2.2 and it asked to update.

    Your AT&T bar looks funny. With the globe next to it. Never seen that before.

    His phone is jailbroken. He changed his carrier logo. Mine says my name instead of AT&T.

    was just the carrier update from a few months ago,
    that she never did

    It's because you haven't upgraded to 2.2.1 yet.

    Yes, that's the message. I am on 2.2, but when you click that link, it takes you to an Apple site to download 2.2

    The Hong Kong Carrier (3) does it all the time, for all firmware versions. In fact, they've been doing this since 2.0.2

    When I asked, they said they track the firmware version of iPhones using their carrier.
