There is AdBlock Plus and AdBlock : https://getadblock.com/

AdBlock is not available on the FireFox add-on store but AdBlock Plus is. I contacted AdBlock to ask for the reason but they never mentioned why they were taken off. They just said I can install the add-on from their website.

Any one knows why? Should I stop using it? I use this specific add-on because there is just 1 guy behind and its extremely useful so I usually advertise it to other people and donated money to the developer.

What's wrong with Adblock Plus? Other than that it allows some "unobtrusive advertising" by default (and can be disabled), it's fully open-source and doesn't have much controversy surrounding it from the user side. On the other hand, Adblock (the current extension for Chrome, Safari and recently Firefox, and not to be confused with the original Adblock) has some controversy around it, doesn't have all source code available for examination--except for the modified CatBlock, and was removed by Mozilla for reasons that aren't disclosed and even the Adblock developer is not making an issue of it. I also thought it was kind of intentionally misleading to use that name and icon.

On the other hand, ABP updates don't seem to show up in Safari (for me).

I recently switch to uBlock and have to say I like it a lot better than AdBlock and AdBlock Plus.
