iCloud Why was I upgraded to iCloud+ ?

I just got the attached email and I can't figure out what is going on. I recently upped my storage to 50 gigs and get charged for it. Now I'm told I'm "upgraded" to iCloud+". What does this all mean, did Apple really "give" me something?

iCloud+ is included with any storage upgrade (even the 99 cent option).

So yeah, it's a pretty good deal as long as you keep the subscription.

I had the same email this morning, but it said, "Dear null" so I was suspicious of it.
