Why wont itunes let me edit video properties?

Hi

itunes wont let me edit the data in 'get info' for my videos which i add to the library via an external hdd. The only way it let me change it was if i copied it onto my HD, which i dont want because all my movies and tv shows add up to around 30gb and i only have a 128gb ssd.

Is there a way around this. Note the ext. HDD i used to add to itunes was of NTFS format, didn't think that was important.

My guess would be that OS X has read-only support for NTFS, so it can't change a file's metadata that's on a NTFS drive.

I think you might be correct. Thanks, i still havnt gotten around to doing it but it makes sense.
