Why won't my email messages sync?

I may be missing something blatantly obvious, but I got a MobileMe account, and all the mail settings (the two) I find under sync preferences are selected, both computers are apparently properly setup.

My email accounts are "synced" on both computers, but I get email on either one computer or the other, they don't seem to sync at all, other then me not having to manually setup the account.

Is MobileMe not capable of doing something this simple when they're asking for $99 a year?

Assuming you've set both computers up to access MobileMe via IMAP, then they will stay in sync.

If you do something on one computer (i.e. delete an email, file a message in a folder), you have to wait until the next time that computer checks the server for new email. During that check, it will tell the server about what you did (deleted, filed, opened, whatever). The next time your OTHER computer checks for new email, it'll notice the changes the first computer did and update itself accordingly.

    It's not instantaneous.

It's exchange, so basically the mobile me doesn't really do any syncing, all that stuff works based on the mail server?

When it comes to email, the @me.com email address you get with MobileMe can be accessed via IMAP, and the way IMAP works keeps your email in sync. MobileMe does nothing special for email syncing, except give you an account on a server that supports IMAP.

What MobileMe can sync is your Safari bookmarks, iCal calendars, Address Book contacts, Dashboard widgets, Dock items, keychains, mail accounts + rules + signatures + Smart Mailboxes (for Mail.app, not Entourage), Notes and Preferences.
