Why would one MacBook's wifi be SOOO much slower than another's?

Black Macbook and MacBook Pro, both no more than 18months old, both using Safari 4.0.4, both connected to the same Airport Extreme.

Why, when doing a speedtest, would the MBP return results of 9.79Mbps whereas the Macbook returns 0.64Mbps?
