Why would someone get a combined degree in Economics and Geography?

Is there a benefit of doing this over just taking economics or geography?

An example of classes are here.

From the OP's linked site ...

The combined majors are a good choice for students with interests in an interdisciplinary approach to economics and related disciplines.

Searching the combined major, I found a number of schools that have it. Here's an example ...

University of Buffalo
Department of Economics

One purpose of the joint major in Economics-Geography is to provide flexibility for students who intend to pursue graduate studies in subjects such as Economics, Geography, Regional Science, and Regional and Urban Planning.
