Think OP means why isn’t the single round cutout combined with the pill cutout to the left to make one large pill shape.

This is what I think also, of course to also indicate who has the "more premium model" but for people who love to see the numbers game it would boast a higher screen/body ratio

Because Apple is no longer consistently good at design. They are only riding on their reputation and reusing old designs with slight modifications.

Will the next generation of products be ugly monsters? We shall see.
