And people said I was trolling...
LOLZ! Seriously I wasn't trying to troll. Specs aren't everything in my narrow opinion. Sometimes the comfort of the ride is more important. That's why there are choices. I prefer my unix based, objective c powered, vetted store ride to a kitkat, java based, open store sports car. My choice is not better than yours at all, it's simply my choice.

Apple spends tons of man hours tweaking the interior of their equipment. Very few people will ever see or appreciate this. Have you looked at Google console? If they even spent 2 minutes on it's UI I'd be surprised. They only checked a box, capped a spec. Apple doesn't do everything right at all, but I appreciate that they sure try. A ton of people agree with you. That competition keeps Apple on its toes. For that, I'm very grateful.

Does samsung even offer anything like an apple store or AppleCare?

You speak of Applecare like it's free. Most people don't buy it, the products are expensive enough.
Having said that, Apple after sales service is one of the best around. Samsung's is a fairly standard 'return to base' repair service.

AppleCare is free as the standard 1 year warranty. For the purpose of this thread AppleCare plus is what 99 for 2 years? I speak of AppleCare cuz it exists for its customers. Can go to an apple store for support and service. This doesn't even exist as an option for samsung.

With the recent sales results that shows the iPhone 5s is still outselling the newer Galaxy S5, I'm curious as to why you either picked or would pick the iPhone over the GS5. Spec for spec and feature for feature the GS5 is heads and tales above the iPhone in just about every category (1080P - 5.1" screen, 16MP camera, Killer battery life, expandable memory, etc.) and yet it's not outselling the iPhone... what does the iPhone still do better than The Galaxy S5 and Android KitKat 4.4.2?

Don't give me the tired old "android is a mess" argument, we aren't dealing with ginger bread or jelly bean here anymore. KitKat does almost everything well.

I picked the iPhone because it’s the iPhone. In exchange for the "walled garden" experience, we get the best, smoothest mobile OS out there. You don’t want to hear that "android is a mess", but it is. And iOS has the best ecosystem (IMHO) around - the inter-connectivity between iPhone, iPad and Mac is tops in the market.

The iPhone is a quality device, well engineered and well built. Not so much with the Galaxy. It’s plastic, it feels cheap, and (IMHO), it’s to big.

And then there’s Apple's support. Tops in the industry - no question about that.

It’s about the total experience. In my judgment, Apple clearly wins. Apparently the entire market feels the same way. A 6-month old iPhone 5S continues to outsell a shiny new S5. Go figure.

They have those cheesy little cordoned off areas within some Best Buy stores. I was in a BB today. I almost felt sorry for the poor Samsung schlub. He reminded me a lot of the Maytag repair guy. But for a totally different reason.

Meh. The included (by law) 12 month warranty is pretty similar for every manufacturer. Where Apple trumps everyone else is having stores to walk into and obtain assistance, that's if you live near one. If we're basing purchases on the fact Apple have stores, then what about refrigerators/toasters/televisions/watches/etc? We can't buy *everything* from Apple and it's worth noting that they did jack **** for me with my iPhone 5 problems.

£80GBP for the iPhone Applecare in the UK. That's a lot ($136) when you've just forked out for a 32GB iPhone ($1107).
So you'd be looking at $1243 with Applecare. Most people stick with the standard 12 month warranty....

I wouldn't pick either one.

I don't want to suffer the iPhone's battery life again, and the GS5 is bad value.

My experience with Android now is much better than the iPhone. I had iPhones for 3 years.

It isn't about Android, it's about the phone you pick.

I would pick the iPhone over the s5 any day if the week. Don't want to suffer the mess that android is. I played with both the s5 and m8 and concluded if apple went out of business tomorrow would get the m8.

While the free operating system model(see windows) works well, there is something about android on a touch screen mobile device I don't like. It's all about personal preferences.

Android isn't a mess. I'm using it now and it is great. My experience is much better, compared to iPhone.

Windows is free? Haha.

Oh and also living in NYC I have an apple store 5 minutes from my job, and another 10 minutes from my house. I can pop in at any time if something goes wrong with my phone. Can't beat that.

I think by "free" he/she meant "open" or "free for anyone to use".

Unlike iOS and OSX (for the most part) which is closed off to all but Apple devices.

Not free. Not for anyone either.

You use the terms Open and Free for Ubuntu, not Windows. And we shouldn't bring Windows into this conversation.

It's all nonsense talk. We aren't going anywhere with this conversation. Let's stop.

Simple, iOS, and Samsung's build quality is absolute ****. Not to mention fragmentation. Despite what you think, it is still a mess. I also don't need the gimmicky features on the GS5.

Apple is about to copy a lot of those gimmicky features. Once apple copies it then the apple fanboys will hail them as innovations.

Free as in not tied to hardware. You can criticize my choice of words but the point was taken.

So when samsung or htc copies apples features, the android fanboys hail them as innovations? Like touch whatever, which isn't even close to being as good as good as apples implementation.

The point was what? You don't like the way it looks? See? Again. What's the point of us discussing what you like?

Stay on topic actually. What did the S5 copy from iPhone?

Most of the major innovations in iOS are straight copies from Android.

Are you talking about the fingerprint reader? Yes. The iPhone has a much better fingerprint reader than the S5.

But you're saying Samsung copied the touch ID from Apple. Wrong. iPhone isn't the first phone to have a fingerprint reader.

Huh?

I don't think you understand the concept behind what we are saying. We aren't talking monetarily.

And don't continue a topic and then tell everyone else to stop. Thats just immature, do as I say not as I do.

You don't know anything about technology so you keep mixing terms that have nothing to do with anything.

Here's a suggestion. If you want to say something, say it clearly.

My point was put very simply and clearly. As usual on here , you guys came on the attack because apple iPhone is perfect and never has any problems and android is a crappy mess.

OK. Great. You said your piece. I said mine.

What else is there to add? Go ahead. And be clear.

Please stay on topic and just stop with all of this useless chatter. The topic is:"why would you pick iPhone over s5".

One reason is Touch ID. iPhone may not have been the first, but it is the best to date.

And you believe apple copies everything, but google/samsung copies nothing and innovates everything? And yes, I'm saying samsung out the f.p. reader in the hardware, due to apples success.

Well I'm not out to change your opinion, but it seems myopic.

Typical fanboy. You just said things I never said.

When did I say that Google copies nothing? Show me the quote.

A touch ID isn't a good enough reason to go iPhone over an S5. What good is a touch ID if your phone is dead at 1pm?

The only one reason I can see picking an iPhone over an S5 is more internal memory available if you need that.

Camera, screen, they're all better in the S5.
