Yes, maybe. Of course I send the phone back and the loan is gone. Years ago I had a 6s+ for a year and then sold it on my own and paid off the loan balance with the money. Same diff. Either way, loan paid off. After the two years if you upgrade, yes you'll still have the payment but you'll also have your old phone to sell. So the two aren't exactly equal. So either way you'll have the payment but if you wait two years you might have an extra $400 give or take in your pocket (depending on what phone you have)
Not really, because if you don’t upgrade annually you end up owning the old phone and can sell it. But if you do upgrade you’re not out anything more.ITT: Perpetual debt.
Unfortunately you’re 2 year old iPhone at that point will also be worth significantly less so you also have to factor that into account. Of course you’ve also paid for the other half the 2nd year. So there’s that to consider also.

So you only pick the one part out of my post that goes with your argument just for argument sake? LordyThe thread is about upgrading your phone every year when you're eligible.
When you upgrade your phone, it becomes a $1100 debt that you pay off every month.
I'm not denying the convenience of the IUP, I'm just saying the two situations presented weren't financially equal.Yes, maybe. Of course I send the phone back and the loan is gone. And there's nothing I hate more than trying to sell a phone. It's a endless process of idiots, scams and flakes and I can't stand it. Or I sell to some online service and take a lesser amount. I'd rather not deal with that.

I will and my work will enjoy my monthly payments as it’s an expensed item for what I do same with my monthly internet bill. Things aren’t so black & white in the world. So no need to act like your day to day world is everyone’s experience.I picked the one part of your post that was in response to me. Have a nice day and enjoy your phone and monthly payments.

yea and the hassle of selling the old phone (low balled) or Apple’s insult of a trade in.
Apple offered me $400 for my 2 year old iPhone X when I pre-ordered my 11 Pro Max. I didnt find that insulting at all for a device that was 2 years old. I probably could have gotten a little more else where, but less hassle and no fees to pay on the sale, etc. I prefer this route.
If you were in the iup program and didn’t upgrade to the Xs you own your X at this point and can upgrade for the same expense plus because you own your X it’s no longer leased you can turn it in for Apple cash or sale it elsewhereYou won this time?? It’s not a guarantee you’ll get a good amount, whereas in the iup I don’t worry about it.
Hey whatever works for you.

Yeah same here. Just saying if you don’t upgrade and are in the program you don’t lose anything either.Like I said earlier, to each his own...
I can easily BUY the phones and trade in or sell, but I want the convenience of just sending the old one back and swapping for a new shiney, yearly. And not having to deal with variable trade in value OR shady buyers over the net... It works well for my situation at this point in my life.
Besides, you still take a loss on selling... As consumers there's no way around taking a hit, I guess you just try to minimize the damage..
Extra $400... or $800 loss???
If you never bought an Xs you'd have an extra $1200 in your pocket![]()

Don’t forget that you have to pay tax every time you upgrade.
No you don’t lose because you pay off your lease and can resell it or trade it in at Apple.you do lose ... you pay for outdated tech, whereas I have the latest and greatest at the same monthly price ( at this point).
If I didn’t intend to upgrade yearly i would not be in the IUP.
